Bare Copper Earth Wire/Stay Wire

Earth Wires are used for grounding operation in electrical distribution network. The main reason for its usage is ‘Safety’.
In a wiring installation, the earth wire is used to create an electrical connection to earth, that provides an alternative path to the ground for heavy currents. For low resistance the metallic parts in the electrical equipment are grounded. If a fault occurs in an electrical system, earth wires help stop electricity.

Stay Wires are galvanized steel wire strands that are used for sustaining mechanical load. Generally they are made up of 6 wires stranded around 1 wire, twisting 7 wires together. A common use for stay wires is in the electricity industry, using the wire to stay power poles and tower structures. It can be supplied in coils and drums as per requirement.

Applicable Standard

Bare stranded hard-drawn copper conductor can be supplied to meet various International Standards as follows:

  • BS 7884
  • DIN 48201 / 1
  • IEC 60228
